2009 Michelin Guide Recommended:
Instantly amiable, with good food, excellent service, and no pretensions, dining at Maria's is akin to enjoying a meal with a dear friend. The bright-orange awning and open door invite customers from this industrial area of Sunset Park into Maria's cocoon-like space, where low lighting balances the vibrant wall colors.
At the back, a display of perfectly ripe, creamy avocados entices guests to begin with made-to-order guacamole. Menu items may include a chile relleno oozing with three cheeses, paired with a lusty chile sauce, at once creamy and smoky. Special laud the kitchen's abilities, the lusciously flavored pork loin stuffed with zucchini blossoms and roasted poblanos, is presented as an alluring package on its colorful earthenware plate. |
"The waiters alway make sure you are at home. If you are on date you get the most romantic table setting, and if you are with the pals the fiesta is on. Nachos are plentiful, but dont O.D. on them because the menu is full of tasty bites.
A must to try are the tostadas, one word YUM. Get an iced cold Corona to wash it down, and you will thank me."
